About
MiNature.org.uk is about being sympathetic to the natural environment by using cruelty free and recyclable materials to create realistic miniature artworks that are one of a kind.
I started out using polymer clay for making sculptures with the aim of working towards making my own kinds of clays for holding fine detail for miniature work. Since 2018 I have experimented with using recyclable paper clay mediums for making micro sized to larger scale sculptures.
I had the advantage of learning about colour theory and how to mix and create pigments by my father and grandfather who were landscape and portrait painters, but sculpting and using different fibrework (an adapted term I use from Victorian hairwork) to add realism in miniature has been the main influence of my work and especially birds. The first things that I remember sculpting were bird forms in childhood and when it comes to sculpture I am self taught.
Since 2000 I have taught classes on making miniature animals, had my work featured in dolls house magazines and sold numerous custom made sculptures to miniature collectors, dolls house enthusiasts and bird lovers worldwide.
Today I live in Manchester UK and work as a freelance artist and and study local History.
